Sakir, a migrant from Afghanistan, is attacked by a group of people wearing helmets and armed with knives and crowbars. He is stabbed several times close to the heart and in the left lung. He is transferred to Evangelismos hospital in a critical condition. During the preliminary investigation, a compatriot of his names the perpetrators. The police not only fail to investigate the case as they should, but initiates the deportation process for Sakir and his compatriot. Seven years later, Greece is convicted by the European Court of Human Rights for failing to investigate the case sufficiently as well as for the inhuman detention conditions that Sakir ensured at Agios Panteleimonas police station.
